Dvd Upscale Without Purchasing Hd-dvd Addon But Using Vga Cable?

Did I read the 360 itself w/o the HD-DVD addon will upscale a normal 480p regular DVD when using VGA connection or was I mistaken?  (I already have a upscaling DVD player, but was going to get a VGA cable just to compare)

hmm, might have to get a cable then... not really ready to jump to hd-dvd, but a vga cable is nice either way and i haven't been impressed by my hdmi connected sony 75h upscaling set top player, wonder how this looks
