The classic The Odyssey by Homer.  Also the Aenid (don't know the author).  Both greek mythology.

The Aeneid was written by Virgil.

If you're after a basic grounding in this type of thing find something like a Penguin Encyclopedia of Ancient Civilisations. All my books are in storage so i can't tell you the authors i've texts i've studied unfortunately.

Works like the Illiad etc are pretty heavy going - i wouldn't start there personally - might put you off permanently.

If you want to go that way though - http://classics.mit.edu/Browse/index.html has quite a list to choose from.

Yeah, start with the easier, usually newer books, with a good explanation of those mythological texts,  those old books can be a little bit boring.  The funny thing is I'm flying to Greece (Crete) 2night. B)

Books on Atlantis will probably be in a Metaphysics section...same kinda junk with the Afterlife and witchcraft and that bull. at least thats where it is in the bookstore i work in
