It should display when you upgrade the dashboard (probably very old). My suggestion would be to try to upgrade it using a game that is live enabled.

Let me know what it comes out to be, my guess is it's K:3944 :)

upgrading your Dashboard has nothing to do with connection to the net... its only a file that upgrade ur XBOX system. :D

because these pre-live dash is even more difficult to find than 4920, I would advice you to back them up first before upgrade.

I don't think game playing involve the dash in anyway so upgrade won't help.

I agree with him, back up ur XBOX HD. particularily partitions C and E. then upgrade to Dash 4920, but I doubt it will make it work better... U can always try, there no harm in that...

that could be the problem as when i am trying to play the game on his xbox it spins up and slows down over and over every few seconds.  althoug for the first year and a half he had it he barley played it because it stayed at his grandma's house.

Actually, its more likely the hdd causing lag if not a more serious mobo/chip problem..  Game data is transfered to the cache drive and read from there during gameplay.  DVD is only accessed at loading points

depending on the game, some games stream audio from the cd while playing.

either way you got some kinda of serious hardware error.

got a spare xbox for parts?
