Mordon's Package : Can't Get It To Work
« on: January 08, 2004, 11:56:00 AM »

I have been trying for days now, but really can't get a audio hack too work on
my xbox.

I currently have 4920 dashboard and 5110 kernel.

I tried:

* With original 4920 == no luck
* Updated to live 2   == no luck (the only excpected one ;))
* downgraded to slayer's version of 4920 (== no luck
* removed everything from E drive except for 007 savegame == no luck

All attempts gave me the following error when trying the no-swap version:
Unable to copy. There might not be enough space on your hard disk

When trying the swap version:
Unable to copy. You have reached the maximum of 500 tracks
(I actually have NONE)

I saw others posting that they were getting:
Unable to copy. You have reached the maximum of 100 tracks

Hope someone can figure this out!!

Please post excatly what button combo you are using. The combo is different depending on if you have a CD in or not. the below is the combo for NO CD:

You should:
1. Select music.
2. Select the blank soundtrack.
3. Select Copy
4. Select Copy
5. Select New Soundtrack
6. Select Done.

If you have gotten this error, you have already corrupted the DB. Boot the gamesave, and use the "Reinstall ST.DB" menu option (it's under "Audio Package") to fix the corruption.

Then reboot the xbox and try the above combo again.

I really used this button -combo.

I reinstalled the ST.DB several times, and retried... I also completely removed the package,
and then installed it again to give it another shot.. still no luck :(

What also strucks me as strange is that everytime I reinstall the ST.DB the audiofile within
the blank soundtrack (the audiofile to 'copy'), it has a different name. Always strange characters
(most times only 1 character), one time even a chinese character.
Or is this normal behaviour?

Also, after I tried to copy it, it has disappeard... the blank soundtrack has dissapeared completely.

The name changing is normal.

Recheck what you are doing. the behaivoir you are describing only occurs when you do the combo wrong.

Or have the wrong dash ver.

Ok I'll re-check my buttoncombo (though I can't imagine doing it wrong so many times ;))
when I get home in a few hours.

I just hope you're right and I was stupid like 10 times on a row :D

I'm sure I have the right dash version, since I completely removed my C: and
copied over slayer's c folder. (besides that, the sys-info shows 4920)

I'll let you know in a few hours if I succeeded

No ... still no luck...

I am really sure I did the right combo... I printed your post, and did it step by step

After I click 'Done' on the last screen (the keyboard-tool with 'Soundtrack 1'
pre-filled) I get the message:

'Unable to copy. There might not be enough space on the Xbox hard disk.

I also tried to use the standalone version of the audio hack. Downloaded from
xbins, placed over your st.db copied e:pblp.xbe to e:linux.xbe ... resulted in
exactly the same errors.

I guess I have to try the font-hack... but I don't wanna  grr.gif
Do the fonts still have clock-loop-problems?

You deleted everything from E:\?

Look in e:\tdata\fffe0000\music.

What files/folders are there?

And are you SURE of your dash version? What does it say when you go to system info?

I tried with deleting everything from E also... I just
left the savegame on E and created an empty /E/TDATA/fffe0000/music/
folder

the files that are in my /E/TDATA/fffe0000/music/ folder after a failure are:
1499ec [folder]
st.db
st.hk

the 1499ec folder is empty

BTW. nice to see you're interested in solving this, in stead of saying...
"well, I don't know then either"

HMMMM... Ftp in, delete st.db

Make a copy of st.hk named st.db and try again..

DONT RENAME ST.HK... Make a copy of it!

if that doesn't work, I'm gonna need to think on it a bit.....

if you read around then you would know that it doesnt!

your dash needs to be d: 1.00.4920.01

search for how to downgrade dash board to that version.

Hee, mordon. Remember this thread?

Well... it wasn't the delete/copy function that did the trick,
that was a pure coincedence.
I found out now..

I used the gamestub on a game that froze, so I had to reinstall...
again having the same problems, and now the FTP-delete-copy
trick didn't work also.

made me come to the conclusion:
it doesn't work when I have my memory stick connected!  huh.gif

Really weird but true... as soon as I disconnected it, the hack worked again,
when connected it says: 'Unable to copy. There might not be enough space on the Xbox hard disk.'

It's a normal USB memory stick (sweex 128mb) connected through a
usb-xbox cable
it's connected at port 3 with controllers at both port 1 & 2.

Really strange if you ask me!
