Can I run Evox on a cd-r instead on a Dvd-r or cd-rw?

Sure, if your DVD drive will read it.

There’s no rule against it, it’s just a rarity for Xbox DVD drives to read CD-R media well.

But, really, just shell out the extra 25 cents for a CD-RW if you have to.

Ok, I'm well try the cd-r. But do I burn the file on the cd as ISO or rar?

It's gotta be a GDF ISO image (a.k.a. an xISO), which you can then burn with Nero, DVDDecrypter, whatever.

I agree With the 25 cents more on cdrw, I made the mistake of trying things with a cdr and make quite a few coasters

True, but not all of us live in first world countries, or have decent, independent incomes.

DVD burners are cheap, yes, but not always an option for everyone.  If you have one and the luxury of getting a better one with ease, be thankful.

Yeah, this is 2005, but most of my friends in D.F. (Mexico City) can't afford a DVD burner.  Let's focus on what we can do to help the original poster's specific issues, as that's what helps most. :)

There's an FAQ posted up in the forums with how to find out which DVD drive your Xbox has and what media it should read.  Both of my Xboxes read CD-R format disks without any problems.  I'm using anything from Imation to Maxell disks.

Yes, you have to burn using a .ISO.  Most of the big-name CD burning applications should be able to handle this fine.  Just look for a "Burn from disk image" option and you're set to go!
