Dvd Playback Using MS's Dvd Player (dash)?
« on: November 04, 2003, 08:43:00 AM »

I've had xbox media player running as my dashboard on my xbox for a few months now - Love it! Only problem I find is, I'm unable to play retail DVD's.
I've noticed that xbmp is unable to play retail DVD"s, and this is the reason that a program like DVDX was written.

I've used DVD-X in the past, and didn't like it - I prefered the standard MS DVD Player. How can I setup my xbmp/xbox to play DVD's (auto launch) through the MS Dash?

I've tried changing the DVD Player.cut files so it points to the msdash.xbe (I've put the msdash on both C: and E: to no avail)
I'm able to get the MSDASH to launch if I manually run it from 'My Programs' but when I run msdash and then insert the DVD movie, it tries to load xbmp to run it, and then it gets into a Loop.

I cannot work out to play DVDs - I'm stuck in a loop! The only way to get out of this loop is to eject the DVD altogether or turn off auto-launch.
I'd like to keep it idiot proof so my g/f and flatmates can still use it to play DVDs.

Thanks in Advance crew.
