how would one go about locking the hard drive on a version 1.6 xbox?

same way you woudl lock a hdd on any other version

i have just modded a 1.6 version (limited edition with clear case) dated 2004 09 07

and i can't lock the new hard drive

in the settings of evox under security it says N/A

i modded another 1.6 with a date of around april with no problems

is there an issue with later 1.6's

also i just tried the original HD again and it locks and unlocks fine ie gives error 5 when unlocked. lock drive usingg evox and MS dash comes back.

the new drive is a western digital 80gb WD800

any ideas?

Yes i have just downloaded it and tried it but it says invalid xbox version specified.

i have changed the version number in the ini file .... tried 1.0 and 1.1 also tried 1.6 just to see if anything happens.

i also changed the location of the eeprom.bin to c:\backup\ (i am booting off evox cd using boxplorer to run config magic from c: drive) although i have noticed there is no eeprom.cfg file as specified in the config magic ini file???

any ideas?

might try seeing if i can get the hard drive swapped today

Hi,

Go the 80gb (WD800BB) swapped for a 120gb now locks ok

not bad i guess 1st one out of approx 35 that i have modded
