How will you use MC360 with XBMC?
« on: April 11, 2006, 08:21:00 PM »

I was just curious as to how Xbox owners out there will treat this new skin that is compatible with both XBMC and the major dashboards. Just a fun topic.
I personally don't like the idea of have both of the major programs I use on the Xbox be the same skin. It'll just feel weird...
Feel free to discuss.

Sorry, I just had to be sarcastic.

I almost forgot to mention, I'll be using the skin for XBMC over the dash because of the features, but I will then be losing out on the startup screen sad.gif

I use XBMC as my dashboard anyways, so I only need MC360 for XBMC. You don't need another dashboard. Well maybe if you're into cheating, but I'm not!

Regardless of what some people say I'm keeping Evox as my main dash, it isn't as pretty, but I like to keep XBMC as a media center and I like to keep Evox as a dash, also I don't plan on ever updaitng Evox and that means it's more reliable than XBMC, I know the latest build (2.0 which I have) is different, but the old XBMC builds were very unreliable and would get messed up if a wrong skin was chosen. Also, xbmc uses a lot more memory than evox. I mean yeah I use winamp and windows media player, but I don't have a media player pc and I don't plan on getting one. What's the need when I have my xbox?

...I've never quite understood why people complain about high memory usage on a non-multitasking kernel...

Which should I pick if I use XBMC as my dash?

Exactly! What do you need all the free ram for? What and how are you possibly running something in the background that needs more RAM than xbmc is leaving free?

I think some people are too PC minded when dealing with the xbox when it doesn't need to be considered in the same manner. xbmc may use more ram but it only uses what it needs for a system with it's amount of power.

i was thinking about having xbmc as dash but sometimes it gives me low ftp speeds, and i use a lot the ftp on the xbx.... so i have unleashx as dashboard and it really gives me high ftp speeds ... BUT if mc360 is as cool as it looks, (and xbmc 2 is more stable) maybe i'll change my dash to it....

Yea, the FTP on XBMC is slower than the dash; as much as 50% I find. so that's another reason why I keep my dash.
