Well, that's still good I guess.  XPort did just about every system.  Maybe MAME supports it.  I really hope so!  ZSNES has been updated just recently, maybe he'll add that feature in also.

That looks really great, if you need any help with the testing, let me know!

I wonder, does this mean you can only browse the games list of one emulator at one time? Or would it be possible to have a favourites list containing games for different (supported) emulators? That would be extremely cool if you could.

So as this is a Python script I take it the interface will run within XBMC, so that all the background functionality like FTP networking will all be active while using this interface?

Very impressive, good luck with it and let us know if you need any help.

Progressreport (going a bit slow, having some personal matters to attend aswell):

get titleID of xbe (this allows to match a compatible emulator, if it is romlisting will be read, otherwise just launch emulator): DONE

read settings for emulator (eg: roms-dir, screenshot-dir): DONE

read settings from xbmc (eg: language, emulator bookmark, current skin): done

draw gui for MC360: almost done, most parts done, finetune left

To answer a few questions...

@BobBorakovitz: Gameinfo will be shortened and there will be one square for boxart and another one for screenshots. Compatible emus is xport (as far as i know) but think it could be implemented in surreal and mame.. if the demand for it is enough (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

@zi99y: first you will be presented with a list of your emulators, selecting one of them allows browsing the games (eg: select SNES and you will list those roms). The idea of having a favorite list with different emus is something I will take a closer look at, no promises.. but liked it.

Then ftp will work while in xbmc (eg before launching a rom, then you would be in the emulator)

So the only thing left to do is finetune the MC360 gui?  
OMG, if you need a tester or two, zi99y & I would be happy to help out.

This is something I've been visioning for a long time now.  I hope we can convince somone to implement this feature into MAME so it can be fully realized.

Woot! this would be perfect, starting your roms directly with the XBMC. if you need beta testers, please count me in. i read a lot here at xbox-scene, but specially registered so i could reply

Maybe to think about, a starting screen like this one would be nice :

  •          30% top = Large images of the consoles you're gonna support
             
  •          60% bottom = myFavorite section, a list of roms wich the user has played alot, or marked this one as his favorite
after this the screen you made is superb, with only a boxart. who's gonna read the info????

I didn't want to jump on the whole "lemme beta test" spiel, but if you do let anyone test this out you gotta let someone with more than 2 (or even 35) posts do it. I am more than willing (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) !

If we're gonna get into an arguement over who should test it, I think the winner should be the person who made a large portion of the artwork that you will be using with this script (me)  rolleyes.gif .  In any case just let him do his thing and give it to us when he's ready.

Unfortunately MameoX does not seem to support the option to load the game direct from the dashboard..

I have tested the latest NES,SNES,Atari2600 and Sega Genesis/Megadrive versions from xport and they all pass  games nicely..

I know we would all like to see how this turns out and if we all aid him in getting this finished it would be a superb bonus for the scene. Personally im not too fussed about the presentation thats something that can be worked on over time. As long as the functionality is there, job done...

I really don't really think anyone needs to test this if everything is done except finishing touches on the GUI.

I know one thing though, I wouldn't want anyone test who uses angelfire to try to host a pic in their signature.

please guys calm down and read my postings..

1: as stated in my earlier post a public beta will be released as soon as possible (hopefully this weekend) it will be really rough around the edges (no xbe titleID checking, since i do not have a list of known ID's, have to check all emulators myself)

2: got pm from xport devs, ALL their emulators supports this.

3: got pm from znezbox dev, he is looking into implementing this.

4: trying to get a hold of mame devs.

there is alot to do, besides the obvious, i have written every function seperatly, so i still need to tie those togheter.

unfortunally, a lot of the coding can't be done using xboxpython emulator on the computer, therefor for example, aligning controls take a lot of time (having to code, ftp to xbox, test it, code some more, ftp etc..)

being away for the weekend, but having some spare time at my hands now, will continue after checking some emails and so..

Progress update:

multi skin support, checking skinsetting from media center.

reverting to a default look if no supported skin found.

PMIII interface started to take form, still a lot of tweaking left.

Default interface is still to make.

When I posted this awhile ago, I never thought this would be developed at all.  I was actually starting to read up on python to try and do it myself biggrin.gif
