Hi there. I've still got problems with DHCP.
CODE
15:59:55 M: 49061888  NOTICE: use DHCP
16:00:00 M: 48746496   ERROR: CApplication::Initialize - network init timed out
16:00:00 M: 48746496  NOTICE: Checking the Date!

It worked once after some IGR's but never again. I've got a netgear RP614v3 with latest firmware running a dhcp service. Any PC will do fine with it, but maybe the timeout is a little short here?
All settings stay empty as you can see in these pictures:
IPB Image
IPB Image
It's german language but maybe you can think of what it is. Usually there are the IPs and mask stuff. Also in the second pic you can see "Typ Statisch" - static IP, which is wrong. Should be DHCP auto. Also It says it's not connected to the internet, which is true. Can't work if dhcp fails.
Any help / ideas?

If I were you I would delete all previous traces of any builds of XBMC I have installed and then I would try again. There is a tutorial on how to do this somewhere (since the configs are stored in a number of different locations) but I can't quite remember where I read it. But anyway the point is it isn't black magic. You probably have some conficting settings from an older build somewhere and once you delete these and do a clean install, everything should work again.

The same goes for the last poster too.

EvilShindo, they mean skins MUST use the 2.0 engine. skins must be up to code or XBMC will refuse to use them. i hope that clears some stuff up for you...

Hi and thanks. I always do a clean install on my "test box" because I am aware of those config conflicts. I format E F X Y Z and then copy over xbmc to F-Apps. My DuoX2 boots it directly (I put it in the bios cfg on the chip) from there even without those shortcuts. My C drive stays the same because I didn't find anything that tells me xbmc does something there.
I do a hard reset (switch off and on after some seconds) between format and new install and boot up using slayer's 2.6. I never had problems but some weeks ago I changed all my network from static to dhcp and it never really worked with xbmc.
My network config is dsl - router - (integrated 4 port switch) - pcs + xbox + access point. Everything works except xbmc. I have not tried any other dashboard becouse xbmc has all i'll ever need. If I give a static ip for xbmc it works well. And some few times - say in 1 of 30 IGR's I get a dhcp ip and it's all good.
Any more ideas?

I hope by debug logs you mean xbmc.old.log in the xbmc folder.

23:58:34 M: 21909504   ERROR: Unable to open dll Q:\system\players\mplayer\codecs\cook.so.dll
23:58:34 M: 21909504   ERROR: LoadLibrary('cook.so.dll') failed
23:58:34 M: 21909504   ERROR: Unable to open dll Q:\system\players\mplayer\codecs\cook.so.6.0.dll
23:58:34 M: 21909504   ERROR: LoadLibrary('cook.so.6.0.dll') failed

It does exactly the same for real video running off the HD.
I checked that. the only file similar to that is called "cook3260.dll". Maybe I'm wrong, but is there some file missing or does xbmc rename it over in Q somehow? I know Q is mapped to xbmc home dir.

Cook3260.dll is there and is part of the Real DLL package ( drv13260.dll drv23260.dll drv33260.dll drv43260.dll being the rest).  There is no cook.so.6.0.dll in the earlier codec directories.

You can't.  Oh, and <shortcuts> no longer exists either.  When you upload a new dir, you ONLY need to backup the UserData folder (and currently the XBoxMediaCenter.xml).

possible BR: the "Edit Source" and "Add Source" options in the context menus seem to not display most of the time even if they should. is this intentional?

there's a problem with the dll loader, as you probably can tell smile.gif it's on my todo.

rich; my guess is that you should RTFM. for instance, have u notice the <AdvancedSetttings> tag?

slumberpod; the display just when they should - in the root listing. that's the only place it makes sense to add a source. and with it being a context menu and all...

xantus; sf.net/projects/xbmc. follow the link from there. have u never heard of google? and before you come with some lame excuse; google xbmc cvs feeling lucky gets you straight there. wink.gif

nachomans, that's not very constructive. if you want your issues fixed report them properly.

it won't play a single video file now... the previous version was having issues too, but still played some. it appears that it is running out of memory now.

02:09:21 M: 13193216  SEVERE: DLL: Q:\system\players\mplayer\mplayer.dll : malloc failed, crash imminent (Out of memory)
02:09:21 M: 13193216   ERROR: cmplayer::openfile() smb://user:[email protected]/tv/shows/somefile.avi failed
02:09:21 M: 20750336   ERROR: Playlist Player: skipping unplayable item: 0, path [smb://user:[email protected]/tv/shows/somefile.avi]

not sure what to do here...

okay, i make my first post a useless one - but maybe it will help

it appears all i had to do was turn the cache sizes down. originally i thought it might help to turn them up, but it appears that there is too little RAM available for all these caching activities and such.

hope that helps someone else.

A little update to post #57, the problem with the DVD player.    The system is not completely locked up.  I can take screenshots and right trigger/fast forward (but it doesn't FF).   It even says 32x when fast forwarding, but nothing moves off of the menu selection screen.   Here's a screenshot, but it wouldn't let me FF and screen shot at the same time.   The show length of 2:01:19 is correct.
