Ok, here we go!

There are three ways of doing this and i´ll start with the two official ways!

1: Thanks to an app called 'Team UIX's Xbe Shortcut Maker v1.0' by JbOnE, it's now easy...
   Transfer contents of XBMC folder (this is VERY important since the tool is hardcoded)
   TO "E:\APPS\XBMC\". Rename <<SHORTCUT by TEAM UIX.xbe>> to something your bios can boot
   (see THIS or read your  BIOS README) and transfer to location your mod solution boots.

2: Now the unofificial way to make XBMC your dashboard.

Get the bios you want to use. (NOTE: X2 4983 is NOT supported in xbtool!)

Open it in XBTool and change the boot partion and executables. (LEAVE DVD TO default.xbe)

Change the first to the partion and folder you have xbmc installed to. (F:\Apps\XBMC\deafult.xbe or your path)
Save the bios and ftp over to the xbox.
Flash it to your modchip and when you reboot you should boot to XBMC.

Remember that if the flashing goes wrong you need a backup way to start it again, this may mean that you need a programmer or a another modchip so DO NOT complain here if you screw the flashing. This is why it is not a official way to make xbmc your dash, but many still prefer this way over any other



NEXT PART OF TUTORIAL IS OUTDATED AND ONLY KEPT FOR NOSTALGIA

3: Ftp over the xboxmediacenter.xml to the pc and open it with WORDPAD.
(Delete the copy left in the xbmc dir, you will not need it.)

You will see this when you open it:

So if you have xbmc installed to F:\Apps in a folder called XBMC this is what to put in the home tag:

The same goes for any partion be it C: E: or G:

After you have edited the xboxmediacenter.xml double and trippel check for errors!

Open the xboxmediacenter.xml with Internet Explorer. If it have any unclosed tags etc it will halt on the line with the error!

Then save it.

Ftp the default.xbe from the XBMC folder over to the pc and delete it from the xbox.

Goto C: and ftp over the default.xbe and the xboxmediacenter.xml

Also delete the E:\TDATA\0face008 folder.

And now comes the part where many makes misstakes!

Check what bios you are using and what boot order it have!!!

Check second post in this thread for the boot orders for X2 and M7 bioses.
If you know what version you got or continue to read.

You can also check in Evo-X what bios you use.

Goto System Utils-> Settings and scroll down to the BIOS section.

Check what kernel version you have, 1.00.4980.06 for example, means you have the 4980.06 OR 4981.06 bios on the chip. (Team Xecutor missed to increas the version number in the 4981 release)

You can also use XBTOOL to determin what bios boot order you have.

Rename the default.xbe to the name first in the bootorder for YOUR bios.

If you have done this right you will now be able to reboot and boot into XBMC!
