Xbox Access Internet........
« Reply #15 on: February 27, 2005, 02:31:00 AM »

i just had to let someone know that right now. as we speak, i am sitting in front a
57" TV, on the internet through nothing but my xbox (X3, avalaunch, and linkboks,
and 250gigs of western digital harddrive. sometimes i just can't beleive what this thing is capable of.
oh did i mention that i'm typing on a keyboard. my pc is slowly becoming obsolete,
except for ftping files to the xbox.

i apologize, but i can't help you with your question, but why
wouldn't you want to use a keyboard? trust me it's a lot
better than trying to enter urls with the xbox controller,
let alone typing all of this, which i'd once again like to let the world know
that's exactly what i'm doing noe on my xbox.

what's up? i'd never checked the speeds before, and
apparently to use the majority of the speed test functions
on that site you need java, which linksboks doesn't currently support
i was able to run a speed test under the section called
"mobile- optimized for smaller browsers.
the results- 174kbits/s
             1.263s latency
             10.413s d/l time
             (200k file download)
will run same test on my pc momentarily

(link to my pc test)

i'm back on my pc now, but when i was on my xbox i attempted to download java plugin, actually i did download java plugin (the xbox just can't use it) anyways the download speeds reached 370 kbits/s and averaged about 260kbits/s

the way my pc and xbox share internet is through a router. i'm far from a computer whiz, but i can't see a better way.

Hey not bad at all. I say that is very nice for those speeds. If that site doesnt work on ur xbox, try www.toast.net. I have no clue what "mobile- optimized for smaller browsers" is, lol
