Hey, everybody wants it and it would be great in a pinch if you have to return a movie to a friend/store and haven't gotten a chance to watch it yet.  Adding some functionality to the box is a good thing so Kudos to the WiSo.

As for encoding on the box itself there are way too many moving parts to this very imperfect technology.  I've been using Goridan Knot for a while now (6+ programs bundled into one) and I still have issues with A/V synch somtimes for what reason I don't know (like Side A of Ben Hur is perfect and using the exact same settings with AC3 Mux audio isn't working for side B - why? oh well).  Very high learning curve.  There's just no way this can be done easily on the box and the processor itself is less than decent for this type of work.

hmmm,
seems ive encounted a problem....
I'm trying touse he 0.3.4 version, and trying to backup the Half Baked DVD (yes its my copy and i bought it blah blah blah)....
after selecting f:videos as the directories and all, i hit start....
and it gives that WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING  screen...
then it says:

SetDirectory FindFirstFile returned invalid HANDLE
Copying: VIDEO_TS.BUP
Failed to Copy d:VIDEO_TSVIDEO_TS.BUP to f:videosdvd2xbox000VIDEO_(gets cut off here but id assume its same file)
Could not open dest file: F:videosdvd2xbox000VIDEO_TSVIDEO_TS.VOB
Could not open dest file: F:videosdvd2xbox000VIDEO_TSVIS_01_1.VOB

Finished.
You Can Now
- switch off
- press ... etc etc..

ah, nevermind found the problem...
seems i didnt have a f:videos directory and it didnt create it... so it obviously couldnt copy things to it...

would it be possible in the next release to do an 'if check' or somethin for the directories, and if they are selected and dont exist, to make them beforehand.

thanks!! great program!

The DVD Copy feature is great. I mainly use if for temporary storage. Rent about 5 movies at a time. Copy them all to the HD and watch at my leisure and then delete it.

Would definitely prefer if this feature can be improvised to incorporate faster speeds and copy decrypted movies.

This tool decrypts the encrypted DVD's and puts in the unencrypted vob's onto the hard drive.

I must say, although it’s in its infant stages. It ranks as one of the best apps for the Xbox.

HumanClay,

you are right. This one does indeed decrypt the dvd's and then puts the files into the specified directory.

Yeah this is cool. You can load them all up (vobs) in XBMP and they'll play all together, provided you have Multi Stacking on. There is just a slight pause between Vobs though.

I am pretty competent with DVD and divx encoding so this software was an idea I considered pretty pointless as most of the people asking for it were just kids thinking they could fit 80 dvds along with 50 bootlegged games on their 60 gig drive (or worse their original drive) once they got their mod chip.

At this point I am fairly impressed and intend to install it on my box.  I don't think it will get a lot of use but for those rentals I need to return before fully watching them this will be great as a quick solution.

Progress bar is definitely a cool idea.  This project has moved so fast and I am very impressed with it.
