Streets Of Rage Remake Will Be Released On December 31st

It looks awesome, but it would be really tough to bring over to the Xbox. It wouldn't be a port. Fenix seems to be a language in itself. And when compiled, it doesn't generate an exe, but another file that is run through an intepretor. I guess if you ported the intepretor to the Xbox, then you could feed the games in and not have to rewrite the entire fenix language itself. I might look into this, since that SOR looks awesome. And of course, if you ported this interpetor, it would then be able to run any and all games made with the Fenix language. It said a version was made for the PS2. I wonder if this was the aproach they took...

Sweetness!  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/love.gif)

too bad that that fenix forum is completely in Spanish, makes it kinda hard to read.

It looks like a direct copy of the sega games, why not just play those? You gotta love the classic massive slowdown that happened when you put it on the (secret) hardest skill level and had tons of bad guys everywhere.

I'm all for a remake of this that has new levels etc.

Because the remake is gonna be so much better.

realistic shadows
enemies from sor1 redrawn to sor2 style
every stage from sor1 remade in sor2 style
player characters can now run like they did in sor3/bk3
secret routes
the cut bike level from sor3/bk3 is restored
the cut "save the general" building is restored to how it was before it was cut
Adam is playable (completely redrawn to sor2 style)
remixed music (and the choice to have original music)

and yes.. many new levels including bike levels.

so your comment doesn't make sense, this remake is going to be tons better then the original games.

and i take it you never played much streets of rage if you think those pictures look like a direct copy
since i made sure to post only pictures that showcased the improvements.

this remake is gonna rock.

27 more days.

I acutally played it quite a lot (1 & 2), but it's been years ago so I've since forgotten. Don't have a photographic memory.

The changes sound nice, I'm all for it as I said. I was more curious as to how you'd react VampX (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I played a demo of this a while back and even at its early stage it was just capital.  One thing that really stood out to me was the quality of the remixed music.  I'll be eagerly awaiting this port if it's determined to be doable with good results.

Anyway this be very nice addiction to my Xbox collection of brawlers

I don't know about the sor3 beta but the full version of sor3 contained no art at all for the bike levels,
the Japanese game Bare Knuckle 3 however contained 100% of the backgrounds.

I think a Fenix runtime was ported to the GP32x, so it sounds possible. Of course a600 would have a better idea about Fenix since he's from the GP32x scene....maybe let us know if its feasible for the xbox...

Just played this tonight. What an excellent game. I've been spending a couple hours trying to understand what would be needed to port this to the Xbox. Essentially I'd have to port the Fenix engine. It uses SDL so I could use Lantus's SDLx I suppose. The only thing is, it seems this SORR was built against an older version of the Fenix engine. So porting an newer version wouldn't run the game. Anyone know anymore info on SORR?

I'm very intrested on this but won't play it 'till the final version is out, that is 2 days. Also nes6502 I think you might have some problems trying to port this, check the requirements:
800Mhz CPU (more than the 733Mhz Celeron of Xbox)
128Mb or RAM (twice of Xbox RAM, 64Mb)

If you wanna port this not only you need a Fenix port but also some good optimizations to the code.
