Cloning Harddrive
« on: March 04, 2006, 06:26:00 AM »

I was wondering that if I wanted to clone my hd to a new one right out of the package, will using the "Clone" option on Linux auto make the partitions on the new harddrive into C,E, etc or will I have to "Build" the hardrive from scratch first using Linux? Also, I dont have the factory Box files....so I was looking into hotswapping the source drive, then booting the pc with it unlocked and cloning it to the new one. I had the eeprom in the correct folder before I ran the make-iso, so Linux should boot up with the eeprom info from the source drive. Also, if the cloning is successful, would the hddkey be "cloned" to the new harddrive? Wouldn't that be the incorrect info for the new drive? ANY suggestions would be awesome!! Thanx guys...YOU ROCK!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/muhaha.gif)

What version xbox do you have?  If you have a 1.0 - 1.5 use this program if you have the wherewithall to do it...

I like it.  Linux with a HD cloner all done on your xbox.  You just need a Y-power splitter to get power to both hard drives while in your xbox.

Good luck.

Actually you mean, Utilities that run on your PC (xbox related). Not Xbox Hardware.

What Files do you have from your Xbox?

From my experience, and reading the problems from others,
you don't want to "clone" the drive. I ran Norton Ghost for 2
days and it didn't get the job done.

You need to put C and E folder files in xboxhdm and the eeprom.bin
in the right places on your PC before you burn the CD and build the
new HD from scratch.

It doesn't matter if they are the original C and E or Modded ones.
What you put in is what you get out.

Next time, read through the forums and search a little before posting.
That way you make sure you are in the right forum and don't get YELLED
at or FLAMED.
