A Half-life 1 Port
« on: July 09, 2004, 11:10:00 AM »

i don't think i need to explain what half-life is, if you don't know then there is something wrong about you.
anyway to the point, i was playing half-life the other day, and i thought......

THIS WOULD KICK ASS ON XBOX.

How about it, a half-life port for the xbox, it could be ran from off a cdr or installed onto the hard drive. cdr sounds easiest, either way, its about time. we have had doom 1 and 2, quake 1 and 2, and hell even DukeNukem 3d. Half-life should be the next one on the list to be ported. i know it would be a lot of work, but it is easily one of the greatest games of all time and being as we are getting half-life 2 at some point in the near future for xbox, it would be nice to have both of them on the same system.

now, who is good at programming/porting?

That's a real shame, i can just imagine myself sat with my xbox controller smacking crabs with my crowbar. oh well, i'll just have to wait till they port HL2 to the Xbox.

I thought awhile back some one claimed to be porting it, using the HL2 code that was leaked.

With what? There's no source code to port, you'd have to run it under a x86 emulator and there's no way it's going to run HL

the stolen HL2 did indeed contain the entire HL1 source code i believe..

as for that person claiming to port it.. he was lying.

Half-Life 2 is being developed for the PC, and then Valve is going to port it to the Xbox sometime after the PC release. It has been officially confirmed by the head of Valve that it is going to be put on the Xbox (for now at least)

AFAIK HL2 will contain the original HL1(pls correct me if i'm wrong) as a bonus.this port will be running on the HL2 engine though(meaning better gfx/physics and so on).

This is why i think it wouldn't be worth porting it.It would simply be a waste of (someone's) time..

if you guys are talking about Counterstrike : Source, thats cs 1 running on the source (hl2) engine. wich means its not hl1 code

and about a hl1 port, well it pretty much seems impossible, but you have to remember hl1 still uses quake 1 engine, wich has been ported to xbox no?
