Sp Adapter Working With Other Chips

ok, I got a SP Adapter for V1.6 and it lights up fine. Now I want to put my X3 on it. I already removed the additional PIN (16) and I wanted to connect the 5V connection.

NOw my issue is:

Do I connect to the 5V to the SP. Adpater or to the Chip itself. Since there are 2 different products, I'm checking with the Adapater 1st.
