Guy's

My son fires up the box and some how managed to knock the plug out of the outlet as it booted, he plugs back in, now I'm sure this was more like the
powers on, the powers off, it's back on type of thing. So, the box won't
boot into slayers any more, just the M$ dash. I figured the bios banks might
have gotten screwed so I reload the the same bios to different banks, doesn't
appear as thou anything will load to banks 3&4. I upgrade from 1.1 OS to 2.2 OS.
Now all the bios banks will flash and boot properly. Still will not boot into slayer's
dash, have used bios that did work and came off of slayer's 2.5, have tried ones
off of 2.6, always starts M$ dash. So now I figure I'll reload slayers becuase the
.xbe file must be shot, load up the 2.5 disk that I had first used when I loaded it.
After the flubber the screen hangs then very very slowly slayers installer starts
to fade in. It will respond to the controller but so slowly that it's useless. Does
the same thing with 2.5 & 2.6. What I did notice on the installer screen was the
HD sizes listed for the C: as 234.xxx.xxx, E: as 2.xxx.xxx.xxx, F: & G: both show
0. This is a 120gig drive and that E: is not a type-o, the F: drive is full of data.
I'm thinking slayers installer won't load becuase it's seeing this wacked HD.
So I go for the FTP thing through the xenium OS, get right in with flashFXP, all
the drives are there with nothing in them, even the D: is empty witha disk in it,
I thought that to be strange. I didn't think of trying to move some files over to
see if the drive could be wrote to. I did notice when flashing the bios banks that
I could look through all the drives and could see all the data that was on the drive. I did wipe the caches and that didn't work, only thing left that I see is a "repair HD upgrade" in the OS, will this wipe the HD clean with full data loss? What ya guy's think about this one?

Merry Xmas All

Unfortunately XOS does sometimes show nothing on the drives.

Personally I don't use EVOX, but I beliebe Slayer's uses it, so boot that up and use the FTP server in that and check it out.

You don't need slayer's to reinstall evox.

just ftp the file to your C drive. much easier.

Also I suggest you use UnleashX.

It's desgined so there are no features that might mess up your xbox (permanently or temporary)

Tha XOS does show the drives and all the data on them, ftping into the box
shows drives but no data. Slayers doesn't boot as I said above.
I have to try ftping a file over to the box and see if the HD can be wrote to.
Wiil a corrupt evoxdash.xbe or evox.ini file cause these HD problems ?

I know its not your hdd, rather the XOS, which like I said has trouble FTPing.

For the FTP, you don't need to use Slayer's. You can use UnleashX, Evox, Avalaunch, or any other dashboard you want. Just make an ISO out of it, and burn it to a CDRW and it should boot once you've run your BIOS (according to your post you can do that much).

Most likely not, your Xbox would just freeze. They may have been deleted, or your BIOS might have been told to boot a different XBE files on startup.

For example yours might be evoxdash.xbe, the BIOS's might turn out to be evox.xbe.

So I would go with making an ISO and ftping to that to get your dash set up.

Ok, got everything working again. After more probing of my son it turns
out he was moving files over to the the F: drive and the box locked up,
during the reboot the power plug thing happened. Well the F: was full
with zero free space. I never could get evox to load off of the d:, couldn't
ftp with Avalaunch, after playing around with UnleashX I finally got in, but
still no data showing on the drives. From a search I found wsftp may work
with the XoS, well it does work, not all that well, but well enough to delete
some files and clear the mess up. Out of all of this the XoS,bios and dash
got updated, UnleashX is great. Thanks for the help Elf_Sniper.
