Networking A Hub, And Router
« on: August 08, 2004, 01:59:00 PM »

I'm trying to network my xbox into my home network, using a round about way.  I have a router connected to the uplink port on a hub, into which I have my xbox and pc connected to.  The reason I'm doing this is because I want, and only have, one ethernet cable long enough to run the length of my house to the router.  My PC has perfect internet connection, yet I can't ping my xbox.  I set up my xbox's mac address into the router, and I can draw an IP from it on the xenium OS 2.0, and Evox dashboard network settings.  why can't I ping/ftp?  Any help, suggestions will be greatly appreciated...

ps, sorry for my first post being a question, but this has been bugging me

pps, I don't want to unplug the router, and reconfigure my pc/xbox ips to work over the hub alone, because I then don't have internet connection to download all my fav. files  :)  plus it's tedious, and annoying to keep reconfiguring everything...

Cheers

make sure everything is on the same subnet and ip range (e.g. 192.168.1.xx).
