Wonderfull ! SmartXX have a real FTP mode !!!
But how to install this ???

OS update 3245 must be installed

First step, you must donwload it from www.smartxx.com, and dezip

Second step you must install ed_on_chip_1
You can install it with CD ROM (CD RW is beter) or send it in HDD with ftp...

*************************************
Edit: by labmaster
Or you can install it using the webbrowser flash option, thats the easiest one to go for.
After configuring the 2MB bank, open your webbrowser and connect to smartxx OS, enter the flash page, select there the 2048K bank and
flash there the ed@chip image.
*************************************

For this exemple, we suppose ed_on_chip_1 is on HDD (C:/bios/ed_on_chip_1)

Boot with SmartXX OS, go to "config menu"

(IMG:http://www.xavbox.com/photos/smartxx/DSC00431.jpg)

and choose "flahsing menu" and select Bank

(IMG:http://www.xavbox.com/photos/smartxx/DSC00432.jpg)

"
Select "Bankmode Mid 2 Mb" (you must hod the both trigger to select this)
(IMG:http://www.xavbox.com/photos/smartxx/DSC00575.jpg)

choose "2048"
(IMG:http://www.xavbox.com/photos/smartxx/DSC00576.jpg)

and follow the instruction...

then you can See ED @ Chip

(IMG:http://www.xavbox.com/photos/smartxx/DSC00585.jpg)

and ED to the Beach...

(IMG:http://www.xavbox.com/photos/smartxx/DSC00586.jpg)

ED use IP configure in the Xbox

Thanx for the great post, pics really help in every situation  ;)
Do you have to flash the full 2 megs? Over write my x2 bios? No thanks man. If the ED @Chip isn't 2megs that presumable i can keep at least 1 bank (most likely 2?) And this would be probably be my biggest decision between the SmartXX and the Xenium. I'm also not real sure on the LCD. does anyone know the difference betwene the LCD on smartxx and xenium? mainly the connections i know smartx is solderpads and that's fine with me, i don't understand why xenium would put a plug on that, you still have to solder the pads on the LCD right? Enough bable.

Just curious - I installed Ed@chip and it works great. I noticed in the pictures that the SmartXX menu and the ed@chip penguin pick are in color. On my screen its more of a grey/biege color. Did i miss some color setting in the SmartXX config?
Its not a big deal since my dashboards/games/etc are in full color - just curious.
thanks

I have ed@chip flashed, and still have 1.5megs of flash left.

get your facts straight, the smartxx is 4megs opposed to the xeniums 2meg!

so you flash the ED@chip to the mid 2mb and your biosses to the low 2mb.
This can still contain 6x256k biosses (the OS takes 512k)

so you can fit the OS, 6x256k biosses AND the ED@chip.

the reason for the plug on the xenium is for the n00bs (no idea why cause you have to make a custom connector wich should make it more complex) and it can only controll SPI LCD's wich are more expensive.

How come these manuals don't get pinned? Right now there is just one cheesy manual pinned. There's another good Smartxx manuel(with pics) someone translated to english around here also that should get pinned. I know when I get my Smartxx chip I am not going to relish doing needles searches for these.

Everything else is color, except for SmartXX and ED. All my games, the evox dash and EMUs are in color.
Could it have something to do with that "contrast" adjustment on the smartxx chip?
Oh welll - i guess its not a big deal since everything else works and im rarely the smartxx config or ed.

No the contrast screw is just for the LCD.  That's wierd that just the OS and stuff is in black and white...Maybe a bad solder point.

About the no-color issue.  I run through the regular a/v cables and s-video cable from time to time and have full color in the 0S menu.  Then, I went to my friend's house and used his component video"advanced/high def...whatever" pack and it was black and white.  Didn't bug me much cause it doesn't affect anything else but the SmartXX OS color.

Xenium has only 1meg for bioses('cause the OS takes half of the 2meg flash), just to correct the fact.

EDIT: That makes the SmartXX even more worth it's price, at least when compared to Xenium in bios storage amount  tongue.gif

well, if you look at it like that, then the smartxx has 3.5MB opposed to the 1mb the xenium has  tongue.gif
