Madden 2005 Won't Play?
« on: August 13, 2004, 11:21:00 PM »

*updated*

I have 2 XBOXes, both softmodded with UDE2, PBLMeToo, and EVOX.  One has the original HD, one has an upgraded 80 gig.  Both kernels were updated to the latest version as of a week ago BEFORE I installed UDE2.

Madden 2005 will not load on my XBOX with the upgraded HD.  It won't load if I pop it in first and start the XBOX, or from the EVOX Dashboard.

On the one with the stock HD, Madden 2005 loads perfectly both from the dashboard and cold boot.

What is the issue here!?!  I noticed on the Madden disc it has the files DASHUPDATE.XBE, DEFAULT.XBE, and UPDATE.XBE in the root if that has anything to do with it.

I'm confused as to why it works in one XBOX with the same configuration (and drive for that matter), but not in the next????????

My other games boot fine, by the way.  Just not this one.  It's also brand new, no scratches.

It won't boot if I load it to the hard drive first, either.

Anyone?????

What if I uninstalled UDE2....and then tried the game?  Would this remove any of my installed apps or games, or just remove UDE2?

Alright, uninstalled UDE2 on that box and it STILL doesn't load.  It's a perfect store-bought copy.  It sits at the MS XBOX screen and does nothing.

I'm very confused as to why this game won't play in this machine.  The only thing I have changed is the hard drive to an 80 gig, and it locked, and worked perfectly up until this game.

Also, going into XBOX Live with UDE2 uninstalled freezes.

What could be the issue with the new HD?

OK, swapped back in my old stock HD WITH UDE2 and PBLMeToo already installed........Madden 2005 boots fine both ways.

So it's obviously a hard drive issue.

Anything I can check off hand?  I'm going to back it up and then re-copy the files onto the new HD and see if that does anything.....

Now, I have my original C: backup, what would happen if I booted to ITools and ran C backup on the new 80 gig hard drive?

Figured out my own problem :-)

After re-copying all the files on the UDE2 original HD to the new HD.....Madden 05 plays fine.  I don't know what file it was missing, what got deleted, or what was corrupted, but it works fine now!!

Also unsure why it worked perfect for all my other discs but not this one.

Oh well!!!

This worked for me too.  I recopied the C and E from my original hacked HD to the new one.

Yeah I did all that stuff you have to do to get your games to work.  But it didn't help.

Try going into Madden and deleting the EA Sports Bio, that did it for me. It would hang every time it tried to save or load it. (Not the savedgame bio, or madden bio in the MS Dash, the one you get to through the actually "My Madden" menu.)
