Solderless Adapter Won't Lay Flat
« on: October 03, 2004, 03:16:00 PM »

I'm working with a version 1.5 xbox, ive placed in all the rivets but when I try to put the solderless adapter into the LPC it doesnt fit snuggly.  Instead it feels like the holes are slightly spring loaded so when i push in the adapter and then remove my hands it immediately comes out.  Any idea on what's wrong?

Apply your pressure to hold the solderless adapter down snug, then tighten screw with other hand.

Don't overtighten or you may strip the hole.

D0 should be in 1-2 mm in the Xbox D0 hole also it should be at about a 45 degree angle making good contact with the gold ring on the D0.

My D0 is not in hole that much, mine just touches and holds itself in place due to the dip(hole) in D0 place

When I used the solderless adapter I had a hard time getting it snug also.  I tried hard and stripped the hole.  But I just used a bigger screw and that worked just dandy.  With the larger screw I could tighten harder and have it stay completely flat.  You might have to do the same.

I placed a small washer on the motherboard before torquing down the screw for my adapter - this kept the adapter from cambering on the board.  I'm not saying this will work for you, but one of my mods was stubborn, and this did just the trick.

Sounds like old solderless adapter trick, remember they shipped washers with it.

But trick is hodl down adapter to motherboard then snug up screw, if done properly will not spring up.
