Still Trying To Get The Xbit To Work

I have done a search for the problem with my xbit. I soldered some connections again... I have the orange wire from the chip to the mainboard soldered into the place suggested by the xbit diagram. I also use the connection cable, which plugs in to the cdrom connection. Is it necessary that I use both connections, or can I cut out the orange wire?
