How Do I Install This Chip In My V1.5 Xbox?
« on: October 19, 2003, 04:02:00 PM »

After hours of reading and a couple days....I still have the same unanswered questions.
I need to know how to install this chip in my v1.5 box. The X-B.I.T. site is no help to v1.4/v1.5 people.

I have a v1.5
Samsung DVD
*X-B.I.T. is on it's way*

The only info I could find posted on this X-B.I.T. forum to do with the v1.5 is:

Thread: Xbit now supports v5 XBOX
Poster:  Arakon ----Posted: Oct 6 2003, 07:06 AM:

uhm.. any 1.3 capable mod works with 1.4 and 1.5 xboxes.
on 1.4, you just need a 5101 based bios (evox m7), on 1.5 you need a 5101 based bios and to solder 3.3V and GND to the proper pins on the lpc port. that's all.

The X-B.I.T. site http://www.dms3.com/xspecs.htm states:

QUOTE
• Compatible with V1.0, V1.1, V1.2, V1.3, V1.4 and V1.5**  (**soldering required)

Some soldering required!!!  Gee thanks...OK...what and where!

I totally understand that this is a new chip and some things are still a work in progress ...the X-B.I.T. tutorials http://www.dms3.com/xmanuals.htm are great for all but the v1.4/1.5's. (those 2 are non-existent)

So my questions are:

1. Which are the 3.3V and GND?
2. What location do I solder these 2 wires to?
3. Can I use the pogo's if the other 2 wires are soldered?

Any help is appreciated...but, a reply with a nicely circled picture of the location/locations would be most helpful.

I love answering my own questions, here is the 3.3v, and the obvious GND on a v1.5:

good job finding those diagrams.  did you get it to work?  i have a 1.0 so i didn't need to know the differences, but i was curious.  i know on x-s it mentions there's no ground to pin 9 of the lpc, but i didn't know what to do about it or how to correct.  like i said, i have a 1.0 so i was merely curious....

My xbox was made 8-28-2003.  It's not a refurb.  It must be 1.4 or 1.5, probably 1.5.  I installed my xbit with pogo pins and no soldering.  It works fine.

What are the two wires for?

Read up before you ask...

If you don't have a v1.5 mobo then why do you care?

I made a XBOX v1.5 diagram with GND and 3.3V fix for the LPC bus rather than any specific modchip. A three year old kid could probably make a nicer diagram, but hopefully you will get the "point". The LPC area photo was shot by andy@warmcat and is from an old v1.0 xbox, but it looks clear and fix points are same, couldn't find any good v1.5.

Thanks modrobert...this will help

Ok, I have read up and couldn't find an answer.  Suppose I have a ver 1.4 or 1.5.  Can I install the XBIT pogo style?  Or is it going to be soldering?  I recall someone posting that there were very little instructions about this.  Does anyone have any straight forward advice?

Yes you can, but if it's  V1.5 you still have to solder two wires.

mine was made 8-28-2002 so i guess mine is either a v1.0 or a v1.1

ya, cause that means a lot to the thread on 1.5 xbox's.  Please dont spam the forums.

Also guys, I just helped a friend install an x2.2 in a 1.5 the other day, and the chip needed 5v as well (used for flashing).  I am assuming that the XBIT gets enough power from USB, but if you run into problems, I would check into this first.

Good luck  wink.gif

Now that's the kind of post I was looking for....ty.

I have a 2.2 Pro on the way for another v1.5.

Q: Did you install a 2.2lite/+ or Pro?

A pic/pics would be awesome if you could..of the modified solders that had to be made. Curious where you drew the 5v from.
