I Need Help With Led Resistor Calculator

I am trying to use the resistor calculator from MetkuMods. I am using a single LED. I figured out that the supply voltage is 12 volts, and I am pretty sure that my LEDs run on 3 volts. I just don't know what "Voltage Drop Across LED" means and I don't know the desired LED Current. I am using 3mm red LEDs 5500mcd.
