MS's Xbox Wireless Adapter.....

I'm setting up a wireless network with my computer and my xbox.  But I noticed in the xbox wireless manual it shows that xbox ms dashboard may be updated when using the included software.  Question is can I still set up the software for wireless while using Evox?
