Crossover Method.....
« on: January 30, 2004, 05:45:00 PM »

OK.....I feel kinda dumb for asking this when it should be so simple, but I'm having problems.  I'm trying to ftp using flashfxp and a crossover cable.  Problem is I can't connect....I've read several tut's but not much help.

When I start up evox and go to settings....in the network settings it shows

IP            192.168.100.10
Subnet    255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.100.1

I have tried setting my pc with the same except i have

IP            192.168.100.9
Subnet    255.255.255.0
Gateway nothing here

but I never can connect........what am I doing wrong.

Hmmm.....I would hate to go out and buy a router just for this one thing, seeing as how it would be the only thing I would use it for.  Guess I will just keep messing around til I get it to work.  Thanks for the help though.

just as something to try, change the xbox's ip address to 192.168.101.9, make sure you hit save and exit, then restart your xbox with it hooked up to your computer. i had a similar problem (but i was using a router) and i changed one number from the third section of the ip address and it has worked ever scince, and if that doesnt work, its easy to change back

oh, and make sure your xbox is set to use a static ip

Their isn't a save and exit........just a exit button.  When I change the settings and hit exit and then re-enter the settings, everything is back the way it was.....is this normal.

What you had to  start off with was right,  but why use 100 in the 192.168.100.9, why not  just 1 or 0.

I use:
XBOX 192.168.1.10
         255.255.2550

(gateway does not matter)

PC 192.168.1.1
     255.255.255.0

If you do this and it still does not work.  Begin to question if you really have a crossover cable and not staight through.

Check it out
