its alright some n00bs just barge in here demanding assistance so u made a good first impression

havin said that, unprotected is a switch on the chip... i forget what it does but i do know u need to have it switched to unprotected... i think it protects any writing to the xbox or chip or somethin....

if the d0 is in right the xbox with boot cromwell bios (until u flash it, that is)... i would take a flashlight and look at the midget wire and see if it at least looks like the solder or wire is touching the inside of the little d0 hole

Check my response in this thread.

I think your best option is to go back and check your work.  Maybe there's a bad solder connection or a short somewhere.

As far as i can tell from his posts, hes using a pogo pin, and thus has done no sodering.
Additionaly i think you mentioned that you purchased a 2.2 pro, which is not flashed with a bios. You need to prgram you mod chip with the bios to get it to boot properly.
Either look into getting a LITE version or a pro programer.

I use X-ecuter 2.2 Lite chips mounted with the Pin Header method and using bottom d0 point.  Never had a problem modding this way.

The fellow who's having the problem is using a 2.2 Pro.  He's also using Pogo Pins which, from what I have read on other posts, tend to be unreliable and often misalign.

Programming a 2.2 Pro shouldn't be a hassle, since it comes with it's own parallel connection.  All you need is a 25 pin cable, a PC and the X2Cable.exe program.

The 2.2 Lite and Pro both have the 12-Pin header on them.  2.2 Pro should ship with the pin-block which could then be soldered into the LPC Debug points.  This is a much better idea than using Pogo Pins since the connection is far more solid.    IMHO I think he should ditch the Pogo and start soldering.
