use a CD to run ConfigMagic and Add old EEPROM in the update folder. Now update
eeprom.Pay attention the Unique HDD key should change...Now unplug the IDE cable
from HDD then power cable. Now add old HDD and go to Load eeprom and wait 10
sec.You should see ur HDD # change and the serial # change too.go to menu and
select unlock. If every thing works ur old HDD should be unlocked..Now turn off
ur xbox.Add ur 8gb hdd to ur xbox be sure to lock it first. Now run ConfigMagic
and add ur old eeprom and Update again.Unique Key should change again.Unplug ur
HDD...like before..Add old HDD and ..........# changed...Now sit in front of the
tv and copy the password that it generated. Now go to menu and lock it.Restart
Xbox and it should be working now.

ok, i have deduced that the harddrives arent being detected at all..... this is why i cannot ftp into either of them.... they are spinning, and the calbes seem to be plugged and and fine, but they just arent working all of a sudden. What do you guys think I should do now? Does anyone have any idea what could have happened?

well if you can lauch evox from a disc then you should be able to launch configmagic from a disc as well are you sure that you made a default.xbe and made it into an xiso?
