Xbox 1.4/1.5 Tsop Winbond Advice
« on: April 21, 2012, 07:08:00 AM »

Hi all, I just got an xbox and cracked it open. It's got a focus video chip making it either a 1.4 or a 1.5 therefore making it TSOP-able. Mu friend didn't have his meter with him so we couldn't check the voltage on the LPC to see wether it was a 1.4 or a 1.5. There's also further bad news; It's got a Winbond chip.

We've assassinated the write points on the motherboard for the chip but what has to be done to flash the TSOP?

Its a winbond so it's not normally flashable with the usual tools (EvoX). I've did a bit reading and found there is a method called raincoat 0.7? It looks horrible to do. The HeXEn Disk has a Winbond section right? Would that do it without bricking the TSOP? That's got a nice GUI.

So how do I flash the Winbond TSOP of a 1.4/1.5 software wise. I have a softmod and everything in place. All I'm asking is how to flash the stupid Winbond TSOP.

Any help would be appreciated.
Many Thanks, Myhew.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

HeXEn will sort it for you.

Alternatively, any of the Raincoat flashers will work, but (as you say) they require a bit more work.

From memory, if it's a Winbond it will be a 1.4. It's highly unlikely that you have a 1.5 - there are very few of them around.

So what BIOS would you recommend?

iND, X2 or Evo M8+? I'm going to choose a F+G bios anyways as i plan to upgrade from the little 8gb hard disk the thing shipped with. Also with it being a 1.4 / 1.5 isnt there a minimum BIOS it can support?

Evox M8+ or ind-BIOS.5003, because both support on-disk partition tables. That means you can have any of the allowed hard drive configurations (all F, 137F, 50:50, or any other split you like) without having to reflash - you just have to format the F/G partitions with XBPartitioner 1.1 and the BIOS reads the partition table from the disk.

Sorry to double post but does anyone have anyone have a link to the bridge points for a winbond on a 1.4 or 1.5 diagrams? Every link Ive found is either dead or ultra low-res cached crud from Google.

Cheers, Myhew

same as the 1.2 and 1.3 points but here
http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/tsop-images.php

you dont have to do the points on the bottom of the board.
