i knew i was pretty F**KED, i even coulnd sleep over night..

i woke up and had a mission, so i re-did the swap trick, but in this way:
boot pc, pause/break key then i booted my xbox and put a game in it (offcourse it didnt load the game) but i waited for the "MS" logo to pop-up under the "xbox" logo at boot-up, then i did the hot-swap trck verry quik, and open "HDD DRIVER" and copied the back-up that i made back to the HD of the xbox.

tested it and it WORKED!!!!!

I fixed a 21 error this weekend.  EvolutionX 1.8.3935 wouldn't boot (quick-reset looping constantly), deleting evoxdash.xbe (forcing use of xboxdash.xbe) resulted in error 21.

I can't remember exactly how I fixed it, but the following steps were involved, in some order or other:-

Booted using EvolutionX 1.8.3752 install CD which still worked
Removed EvoX game save (using boXplorer)
Removed XBMP game save
Deleted cache files
Reinstalled Live 2.0 dashboard files over the top of the existing ones
Used Enigmah Videomode Selector to switch machine from whatever oddball mode it was in (ConfigMagic referred to it as "Unknown") back to PAL mode
Ran attrib.xbe to fix the read-only attributes that were on the new dashboard files
