! Flash Not Writeable !
« on: March 05, 2004, 03:03:00 PM »

I get this error when I try to flash my 256K bios from the dashboard. I did a search and found similar threads but the solution was to take off a flash-protect jumper from the modchip but I used the 007 exploit.. This is in my evox.ini

[BIOS]

is anything out of line? I believe in the raincoat I used it had these lines:

but I'm sort of scared to add these to the .ini and just kill my box. Has any one encountered/conquered this?

i had same problem and i had to enter another flash= into the .ini file so the software would recognize the bios chip [256k] on 1.5 xbox.   try doing a search fot them thats how i finally found it.

your points are not connected all the way if you get 09 00. Use a multimeter to check them1

tonight my friend and I flashed our tsop's,   starting with his 1.4/1.5

we had only soldered one set of points on top like most of the recent posts in this forum suggest,  however we kept getting this same error, 0x9 0x00 write protected  from raincoat

finally after 3 attempts of soldering/desoldering/resoldering the points,  we decided to go ahead and solder the second set of points on the top of the board.   boom, worked first try...

so the points are where your problem lies, resolder them bitches

Hummm......Seems people still get confuzzled on what points and which verison and blah blah blah

ON EVERY VERISON OF XBOX'S, THERE ARE 2 DIFFERENT POINTS TO JUMP/SOLDER...

1.0 & 1.1 - There is one set of points on top and one set of points on the bottom

1.2 & 1.3 & 1.4 & 1.5 - There is 2 sets of points on the TOP of the board that need to be jumped/soldered......

Some people say that on a 1.2 - 1.5 that you have to jump/solder a point on the bottom....DONT DO THIS...you can, but its just a waste of time....ONLY THE TOP 2 SETS OF POINTS NEED JUMPED/SOLDERED....

Did you try from raincoat?  If you only tried from evox then you might have the winbond chip which has issues and can't be flashed with evox.  Your post kind of refers to raincoat, but you didn't exactly say you had used it.

I had a similar problem months ago.. finally it worked.. I think it was a bad connection in the cable from the chip to my switches.   wiggling it seems to make it work and not work.

It is not always the solder points when you get the 09 error guys.

I personally had 2 1.4's yesterday that would not flash and I am kick ass at soldering, i checked the points about 10 times then decided to use raincoat .07 instead of my old raincoat. The flash went instantly on both. After having a look I noticed that I did not have the correct chip in my ini file.

I say screw flashing with evox always flash with raincoat and always use the newest version. (this also prevents noobs from flashing a 256 bios onto a 1meg chip because it corrects these flashes)

Please tell me you're not booting evox from an LPC modchip to flash your TSOP.  I made this mistake and it took me forever to figure out that you need to install some sort of exploit to get to evox in order to flash your TSOP.

If you have been using an LPC modchip to boot evox, use the tutorial in the pinned topic on using an LPC modchip to flash the TSOP. It will walk you through using the LPC mod to INSTALL THE EXPLOIT.  From THERE you can flash the TSOP.

You can't flash the TSOP with an LPC mod booting the bios because evox will try to flash the CHIP, not the TSOP, and it will fail.
