the error code i get when i boot without the chip in the box is 12 which is "12 - kernel - DVD parameters (PIO/DMA)"

so my dvd-drive is messed?  it's the philips one, isnt that supposed to be the good one?

stupid me, connection to the mobo was loose, that must have been a one time thing, now it's back to error code 16

so it seems like the xbox is fine since error only has to do with the dashboard (ms one isnt named correctly)

that mean fried chip?

Chip is fine, just use slayers 2.6 to repair the hd.  You have an older version of the dash than what is necessary.

It's possible your OS is shot.. try the chip in recovery mode and see if the recovery screen comes up.

hmm, im gonna have to try to souce a multimeter because switching it to recovery mode doesnt change anything.

is it voltages for the chip or for the xbox mobo?  cuz it seems like the xbox is fine, im pretty sure the dash error is because the ms dash is renamed wrong.
