LMAO thats the most ghetto thing ever, well at least it should work.  That really is a hack job tho, I'm just worried that ppl are not gonna install that right and end up screwing their 5v source for their hd.

Excuse my ignorance but how do you know if you need one of these '5V Connecters'?

I have a blue Xenium which worked in my old 1.1 box, but after changing to a 1.6b (with the required solderless adapters) the Xenium chip won't work. Is this because I need the 5v connection? The new adapter didn't come with any other cables.

Does the xenium use 5v?  The answer is no, so you do not need it.  You must ground the lframe and preflash the chip with os2.0 or higher BEFORE putting it into the 1.6 for it to work.  The easiest way to ground the lframe is to put a jumper in the wire loom connector on the chip or connect the wire loom and twist or solder the ends together (blue+black wire).  You still must load os2 or higher using another xbox first.  Also be aware you cannot boot to the tsop with that chip on a 1.6, but you can add the ms bios on the chip for live.

Cheers mate,

Any chance of getting a piccie of this wire loom? I've got os 2.3 on the chip and a jumper but I don't understand how to ground the d0. I have been searching but most of the threads assume you know what a wire loom is.

The connector for the blue/black wire loom, just stick the jumper in there or connect the blue/black wire loom and twist/solder the ends.

Ok. Thanks for the info, I'm pretty sure I've got it covered now.

Now to find a jumper that's small enough to fit in there....
