Boot To M$ Dash
« on: September 16, 2004, 09:05:00 AM »

I just used slayers 2.6to install evrything I needed on my box.
I ugraded to 250 gig hd.

How do I start a xenium Ice in retail mode?

I have the xenium OS v2 beta 2 public version.

i boot right into evox 3935 as per slayers.

I would like to be able to start retail to play live..

This is not a big deal if I can't do it I will buy a box for live or use xai or another tunneling software to play if necessary.

I have looked around to find this answer on my own, but have had no luck.

Use the eject button to turn on your Xbox. This will put you into Xenium OS. Then, from the Launch Menu, select Retail Kernel (original bios) and  press A. Press A again on the confirmation screen. Your original dash should load, if it didn't get messed up when you used Slayer's.

The only thing I had in my launch menu was my M8 bios.

No retail kernel.

I thought I followed the Slayers install exactly from the PDF.

i'm not sure i fully understand why you can't or you just don't know how but i believe the solution is simple :

under launch menu go to add new ; then select TSOP

or if you don't have the original MS bios you can get those most places

Don't know how.

I think I have the origonal bios.

I backed up eeprom before I upgraded HD.

So just burn bios to cd. Flash to TSOP?

Thanks for your patience I am still new to this.

Go to the Launch Menu in XOS2. Choose add new item. When it asks you the location, pick TSOP. Pick a name (Retail Kernel) and an LED color, and let it add it. Then whenever you want to use live, make sure to boot to the retail kernel from the launch menu and make sure your HDD is locked (Or the retail kernel will throw an 05 error at you).

Thank you.
That was exactly what I was looking for

I'll see if Live works in Feb. when high speed comes to the sticks.

Is LFRAME connected to d0 on the chip, or did you ground it? Think this is a different issue though...

Yeah, that's fine. Dunno what your issue is, you *sure* it only happens when booting the retail kernal?
