Xenium Will Not Flash With Bios
« on: February 22, 2004, 08:19:00 PM »

Ok, I have tried this multiple times, multiple ways and its starting to piss me off. I have tried using 1mb BIOSs and 256k BIOS. I have tried and re-tried MANY times. I get one of two errors:
"Unable to load file from cd"
- or -
"Bios not properly sized!"
I know the BIOS are properly sized and the disc works or else it would tell me that much. Why the hell is this not WORKING? I got the chip Friday and was expecting it to be running EvoX dash by Saturday morning. Its Monday morning now and I don't even have a damn BIOS on it.

well how big are the bioses you're using? you have to set the xenium to use the banks accordingly(if you're using 256k, make sure it's set to use 256k and so on). And make sure u name the file BIOS.BIN

and how can u waste a CD-RW? Just erase it.....

I know about the bank sizes and whatnot. I tried using a 1mb BIOS and a 256k BIOS and neither would work. As far as the ISO, I used the tut for making dics in the Xenium section...

I was getting a "bios not properly sized" error when I forgot to rename my bios to BIOS.BIN. Also make sure that the media you are burning to actually works in your xbox.

Well, I am not an idiot, of course the file is named BIOS.BIN. As far as the media, it must read it or how else would it know that the bios was not properly sized, although it is. I was using Sony CD-RWs but I decided to buy some Memorex because everyone says they work best with Thomsons... and as for wasting the CD-RWs, as far as I know after you finalize a disc (which all the tutorials tell you to) you can't re-write it...

Just as a though buy a CD/DVD cleaner and run it through about 7 or 8 times

If that fails use a gamesave hack (AKA softmod) and FTP the bioses to your c: drive where they should be selectable under the Xenium OS's bios browser.

Well I am new to the whole disc burning stuff. Bought it for the sole purpose of modding my Xbox and its not doing much good. Anyway, about the softmod. Is there ay save game hacks that can be loaded onto a memory card via AR? I have one but its not a valid save file and AR is gay about that. Or are there any other save file managers that would allow me to do this?

Yeah you can use USB memory keys etc
see
http://unmodded.mine...mpatibilityList

Or alternatively people are saying original M$ cards work in the action replay bay
All the bay is is a USB to Xbox headder converter... just straight forward cable crossover

Have a look here too http://www.gadgetjun...=article&sid=13

I have been using dummy files as well. I have had total disc spaces of <1mb to >600mb and the problem isn't reading! Its just saying the bios arent properly sized when THEY ARE.

finalized CD-RW can be erased. Just do a full erase instead of a quick erase. It'll take about 20 minutes but it's better than thinking your discs are wasted when they're not.

sad.gif

but on the 11 CDRW wrote it at speed 1x.

dummy file about 100mb.

the Xenium flashed successfully X2 4986.

So go thru the burning process or try other media Brand.

i got from loacl shop NO Brand CDRW 4x for only USD$0.5 each

that works fine for me.

Maybe you should instead connect your CDRW to XBOX just buy a Y power cable to tap from the HDD.

cheers!!

Its not the drive thats the problem though, I think... it reads the discs because how else would it get the "BIOS not properly sized!" error? And I have tried two different medias, Sony CD-RWs and Memorex CD-RWs. I burnt both at 4x because its the lowest setting I could use in Nero. I also used dummy files in each, ranging from <1mb to >600mb. Like I said, it reads the disc but gives me a damn size error.
