1 Xbox, 1 New Chip, Dead Hdd!.

huh.gif  mad.gif  , and all i get is the stupid error7 & 8 screens so i guess its dead!

I have serveral hdds around and a backup of my xbox, but the thing is none of them can be locked!

Can I install my SmartXX V2.0 and use one of my drives if so how?(I Have searched the forums and can only find that discuss using a lockable drive)

or

Do I have to stop being a cheapskate and shell out the cash that i was saving for a LCD Mod on a new hdd?

You can use (almost) any PATA (IDE) drive.  Lockable or not, doesnt matter unless you want to run a stock bios and go on live.  Install your mod chip, flash a bios,put in your  new hdd, format, install dash and apps.....your good to go...

You DO NOT NEED a lockable drive for non live play..
