Pinheader Install = No Power
« on: March 17, 2005, 05:23:00 PM »

okey new check: with just the pinheader and no d0 wire attach, it boots to the stock xbox.
does that mean the d0 wire/connection is bad? or chip bad?

its probably your pinheader install and make sure your in the right point for d0.

You need to test the pins with a multi meter.

Set it to ohms and try and get a signal when you touch the lead to a pin on the header and then touch other lead to the pins that go to the ms bios chip on board. it should make a beeping noise.

to test d0 there are alternate points on the motherboard stick the meter lead to the d0 on the chip then put the other one on the alternate d0.  If it makes a noise your in good shape.

As for chips, they rarely are bad.  I've swapped chips on fragging xbox's pulled em off with the power on.  Blown a powersupply and shorted out a board. Never had a problem with a chip.

9 times out of 10 its a soldering problem.
