Unreliable Booting From 1.4 Xbox W/ X-bit Chip
« on: February 27, 2007, 05:55:00 PM »

I have an X-bit chip installed in my version 1.4 Xbox.  I have already successfully installed the UnleashX dashboard and I have all my Apps/Emus/Games working appropriately, but a new problem has surfaced.  Whenever I start the Xbox, more often then not the green light comes on, and I can hear the DVD drive spinning, but the dashboard will not start, and nothing happens on the screen.  The DVD drive does open and close, but the Xbox requires repeated power cycling to get it to start.  I don't have any correlation between successful starting and not, so far it just seems random.  Any ideas what could be causing the failed starts?  Thanks in advance for any help.

Almost definately a bad connection giving you the random bad start here and there.

I would take the chip out and clean the D0 point (usually the main culprit) then reseat the chip screwing it down firmly for a better connection.
