Network Doesn't See X-box.. Dashboard Problem?

I installed an XBIT 1.5 for a friend.  It will play backup games fine.  But, when you start up the xbox without a game in, it goes to the old MS dashboard that came with the game and not the evox dashboard I thought I had installed.  So I don't know if that might be my problem or not.

Anyways, when I connect it to a computer, craxtion can't see the xbox when I try to find it.

Any suggestions?

make an evox boot disk with an ip then ftp evox to  c: as evoxdash.xbe
