Sorry to hear about your bad experience, as a reference for later, if your screw hole is stripped you can drop glue into it and redrill it, us your soldering iron to melt it in a bit to allow grabbing or change the thickness of screw.

When modding, as you can attest to now, never try to rush or assume.

With the solder problems, I have had that happen a few times when I started to mod, it takes some work and a lot of time but they can be rebuilt. I had to rebuild whole traces on the xbox mobo, not fun but it can be done. Look at the bright side, it is good training.
