It depends on your Xbox version. If the LPC holes are filled with solder then you have an older Xbox and usually it is enough just to clean D0 point. If the LPC holes are not filled then scrape the D0 point a little bit so that you take out the translucent coating. The open holes also help installing as the pogo pins snap into holes while you adjust the chip.
