**UPDATE**
finally its working... here are some things to help others with similar problems...
first i heated the connectors on the mother slightly with a soldering iron(not sure how good this helped)
&
second, i got rid of the spacer. (i think this was ultimately the decider)

okay so i just got my Xbit today i'm putting in a v1.0 (2002-04-17), and i have run into some of the same problems as others:

Everytime i boot with STM on and off, different BIOs settings all flashed it still says MS below the big green X.

once i had the 3x reboot/ red green led flash. only with the STM on.

i've tried the DO and connector cleaning (it actually looks like i'm scratching the metal on the mother board connector) so i stopped.

but what i'm getting at is that haven't found any one saying they installed the xbit with these problems and gotten around them. i mean has anyone done it or are we all still trying? sorry that this sounds like everyother post but i just want to get some specific help... thanx.
