Try a different bios like m7, 4980, or 4981.  Make sure you have the correct bios bank selected.

It sound like you have the wrong BIOS bank selected. Check the dip switch settings.

anywho...i recommed downloading xbtool... change the color of the led around the eject button and the xbox logo to tell if your bios is loading the modchip or the m$ one. I changed mine to all red.

xbtool is on xbox-scene here...

THen you should download Slayers evox auto installer easiest thing to install the dash

Helps a ton, thanx!  Does it make any difference that the LED is on when connected to PC but not when Xbox is powered up?  Also, if I used the wire install method do I still need to screw the chip to the board?

I set the switchees the way you suggested.  The LED light comes on but whn I boot it frags?  Red/Green etc etc....any suggestions?
