Why dont you just use pogo. I think it works best on v1.0.

the pogo pin alignment has been very reliable for me - they use a pointed D0 pin that really locks into place.  The new xecuters look like they also use pointed D0 pins.
I don't know why they chose a reverse header pin arrangment - nobody has said, "gee, that was swell" and they don't seem to include the female pins in the package...

imo its best to replace the male pin header on the chip with a female, then install the male to the motherboard! then you have your x-bit the way the damn thing should have been made in the first place!! biggrin.gif

You rock!  Nice site.  I'm ordering stuff now.

It's too bad this is not included in the Xbit kit to begin with.

Thanks again!

Too true!!!! i was very angry when i got mine, especially as I already had a pin header on my m/board from the cheapmod i was replacing! grr.gif  which is exactly why i recommend changing the pin header on the chip and having the pins on the m/board!!!!!!! just bend the pins on the socket 90 degrees so you can surface mount it!

thanks justin - sniff, sob, i'm honored! smile.gif
seriously, just press the pins themselves a few times to work them in, and make sure you gently scrape the D0 point, and gently position the thing so it visually looks right, tighten the screw (board on the spacer) until the pins are gently compressed, then wiggle a drop until D0 snaps into place, and you're done!
