very wierd...

i couldn't get it to work on any of my three win xp machines. i tried all the compatibility settings...

i then tried it with my win 2000 server, and voila, formatting worked without a hitch...

right now im flashing a 256k bios, but it seems to take VERY long... but it IS progressing

btw, still no light

Wierd? Does your PC 'find' the chip?
And does the software say 'connected'?

if you arent getting the light, but the machine detects and install it, its probably a bad LED on the xbit

as long as it flashes i wouldnt be worried.

also, the process is very slow....
from XBIT's website..

QUOTE
According to the official USB-standards it is not allowed to transer data via USB full speed if the physical connection is using unshielded wires. The black and yellow transfer wires are unshielded. We needed to use those wires because we would not have been able to route them through the cut-outs of the casing if they were shielded/too thick. This the reason why we have to transfer with low speed.

which is the cause, maybe someone will release something at a later date, probably new wires (or a DIY mod) and some new high speed software.

well, the led can't be dead, since now that i have it connected, running, and WORKING ( biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif ) inside my xbox, the led DOES light up.

btw, i was aware of the fact that they reduced the speed cause of the unshielded cables, but i wasn't aware it was THAT slow :-)

anyways... time to change my NIC setting to connect to X3's ftp server and load up some software....

thanks for all the fast replys

so LED doesnt work when plugged in USB but does in XBOX?

weird, maybe a dead trace on the external board from USB to LED?

at least it works
and yes it VERY slow =(

if theyrelease some software for the XBIT with an option to disable the cap if you are using shielded wires then id rip open my xbox again for that ;D

So how long does it take?  I have left it for nearly an hour and it's still in it's 'froze' state.  My LED isn't lit up.  The chip is installed in the XBOX and the software connects ok, starts to format and freezes after a couple of mins.

I tried with all switches off and formatting bank 4.  I then tried having bank 4 enabled (on, on, off) and formatting, it got to erasing 3rd bank or whatever and hasn't progressed.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.
