So i wont have to sell my new Xbox after all...

I wanna order a few chips... I know they would be a killer now in Australia since all of us here are supplied with the new ones now.

isnt the linux project open sourced?

even then, they said it was easy to crack so they shouldnt be the only ones with the key right?

No they are NOT obligated to release the RC4 key. But even if they did, there exist another problem. What I read on the XBH forum was that there exist a hash check in the new bios. If someone goes in and try to play around the RC4 key, the hash check will fail because it does some sort of comparison of the image. To get around that, you have to go in and mess w/ the hash check as well which is protected by some sort of personal key. I can't really explain it too well because there's just too many technical terms that I don't understand myself. But in a nutshell from what I read, it's really really really hard (to the point of impossible) to defeat the hash check. Take what I said w/ a grain of salt because like I said, I could be reading it wrong

I think if anyone is planning to get an XBOX, the time to do it is NOW. Don't wait and hope that a new bios will be out that'll work w/ the V2. You might be waiting awhile or forever.

Eh the Linux project's target is to release a version that will work with the V2 boxes. They say that they have just about done this.

This means that they would have to solve the hash problem, no?

If one person can do it, so can another.

So we may be merely weeks away instead of years, of a new replacement BIOS.

The guru's love these challenges.. I find it hard to believe that M$ could come up with anything the guru's couldn't crack.. But then again, with the v2 xbox being rumored to have been modified with bunnie's assistance/advice, maybe one of the best guru's out there participated in making the protection this time.

So if they intend to release linux to v2 Xbox there will be modchips for it

regardless of what the linux scene does, the modchip scene will do its own shit to get mod chips working soon enough, give it a few weeks
