Hi, another 1.6 box here with another problem. I installed a chip, worked just fine for a customer, a few hours later he called me and said he was playing a game then the box shut off, wouldnt boot the chip but booted normally once. When he went to play the game it just shut off and fragged when he tried turning it on. Any similar problems? I've definately never had this before after 300+ boxes.

Maybe get the box back and recheck your work, maybe something happened to it. Hopefully it is not the same customer I had, I am in Ottawa too and I had a guy who took his box apart and installed his own HD and tore out the D0 by accident and then blamed me for my bad work and wanted it fixed for free. He even admitted to opening it up and fiddling with my work to see how modding was done.

I got it back, he didnt seem to open it at all, looks ok... Brand new Xbox too apparently... I'm just hoping I dont have to pick up a new one because I cant figure out what might be wrong. Thats pretty bad lol, I've never had a customer do that to me.

Just recheck all your soldering and make sure it is perfect, and if so, maybe try another chip to rule that out.

maybe solder crossed something and blew something on the board. Never really had that problem happen to me.

Most likely a wire has became loose and now is shorting on something !

Get the xbox back , resolder the wire thats floating around and retest !

I got the box back, I completely took the chip out and it FRAGs. WITHOUT the chip.

There has to be some kind of damage somewhere... unless maybe he did something to the HD??? i can't think of what that is causing the XBOX not to recognize the HD. Just a guess. Cause normally something like this would be some kind of damage somewhere .

I never said it doesnt recognize the HDD i said IT JUST FRAGS. With out the hdd and cdrom. Sorry for the caps but i feel like im repeating myself over and over.

I think Julius Pleaser must have replied to the wrong thread on that last post, it doesn't seem to fit this one!

Obviously you trust your soldering as you have done so many boxes, but if you've taken the chip out and essentially returned it to the unmodded state, and it's still not working, then you must have done some damage somewhere. Solder splashes, burnt traces etc.. Get out a magnifying glass and a good light and just scrutinize the board..

Could the customer be trying to rip you off? Was it definitely the same board / your chip that he returned?

Lol.... sorry guys about that last post. It is actually HALF a response to this post, and half a response to an email I was replying to. I guess I should have had my morning coffee. That is why it made no sense here.
