~my New Xbox Case Project~
« on: March 19, 2005, 10:03:00 PM »

Here is a project that I am thinking about doing within the month if I have time and decide to go through with it.

Putting an Xbox inside of a guitar amp, fairly small... about 12x12x9" (width, heighth, depth - for those of you who didn't know...).

Here are the pics...

Heres a friendly piece of advice for ya....no one aronud here will take kindly to hearing about  what you "might do"....sure it sounds like a decent idea....im pretty sure you cant keep the amps functionality if you were putting an xbox in there....the trememndous magnet on the speaker of the amp alone would cause majour problems...and if you took that out...well i don't know what the point would be.....but hey dont let me keep ya down...thats waht casemodding is all about .....modding stuff for no real reason other than asthetics

Ya, I'm planning on taking everything out, and using the existing power switch on the amp for the power. And yes, I know, "people around these parts, don't take kindly to folks like me". But I just want to get some input from a few people, find out whether or not it's worth going through with, and hell you never know, maybe even inspire someone else to make the next best xbox case out there! I'm sorry if this post is a nuisance to you or anyone else.

That's what I like! Someone who can see oportunity when it's there, lol! (although you might be talking about keeping it as an amp, lol)
*hey, hozy, aren't you from HaloMods? (I'm DSDahl89 over there, I'm the
one who made screenshots of all your startscreens a while back)*

But anyways, personally, I think it's very original, and kinda neat with a handle ontop and everything, especially if I can completely disguise it as an amp! lol

Suggestions? Comments? Feel free!

or... find one slightly bigger, get an lcd screen and a wireless networking adaptor and make a portable xbox system... buy one of those cheap surround sound systems at walmart and build it inside of the box too, and have the adjustments on the amp be the adjustments for the sound...

but at the same time, i think the ms case looks better than the amp, you can argue well its something different, but if everybody in the world drove a bmw, i'd still drive a dodge viper (or insert  fast car here)  rather than a ford festiva (insert slow car here)

It's actually not that much bigger than an Xbox Case, it is a mini amp.

try to use the buttons to start the xbox/open tray that would be cool...

That's my current plan.

Ya, I'm thinking about something more simpler, lol but good idea, lol

I am planning on using the power button. I'll put the controller ports on the side. And take out the speaker, but leave the metal mesh so you can see the xbox inards if you are really close, but it will definately look like an amp cept for the controller, av, ethernet, power plug ports on the side, all neatly organized.

With the speaker gone, the metal mesh will provide airflow in and out of the case, I'll mount an 80mm fan on each side of the case about 4" away from the mesh so they can't be seen, and have one blowing out and one blowing inwards to circulate.

It sounds like a pretty portable, badass xbox to me. What do you guys think?

<----- Thinks his idea would kick the crap out of yours...

eh, but honestly mine would be a lot of money... and for what your doing, i would also leave it in the xbox case, but thats my opinion...

good luck and update it when/if you finish it
