I cannot create a connection to my XBox and was wondering if there is an application I could download to read my games on my pc so I can back them up without extracting them on the xbox.

Well, it is possible but the process often ends up being more complicated than FTP'ing. There is a way now to hook up an XBOX DVD-ROM drive to your PC and you can back them up without using the XBOX once this is done. You will have to have a spare XBOX DVD-ROM that you don't mind butchering to hook up in your PC though. It also requires a firmware hack. You are on your own for where to find it though.
